    The Peer Recovery Specialist – Housing provides a variety of recovery-oriented services to individuals participating in the supported independent housing program. This position works closely with the Housing Specialist and Options partner UCAN in the procurement and maintenance of housing. This position is part time, averaging 20 hours per week.

    Responsibilities

    Services provided by peers (people who have had the experience of mental health treatment) include outreach, mentoring, teaching and advocacy that contribute to the program participants' ability to engage in services, develop life skills, and achieve personally meaningful and productive lives.

    Qualifications

    High school diploma or equivalent and a general understanding of the population served. Have a history of receiving mental health services and be well-grounded in one's own recovery, with at least one (1) year since diagnosis preferred; mature attitude and knowledge and skills sufficient for establishing effective relationships with clients who have a mental illness in order to support them in their own recovery; understanding of HIPAA laws regarding confidentiality of privileged information; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to work independently with staff and community partners as agency needs dictate.

    One (1) year experience in a similar setting preferred. Additional experience may qualify for a higher pay rate. Candidates must be able to use e-mail, compose documents, save and locate documents electronically and learn to use our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Must pass state-required background check and DMV checks; valid OR driver's license with excellent driving record required.
