Job Description

This position is responsible for the promotion of label capabilities to internal sales professionals and external customers. Success is this role is heavily measured by achieving sales quota and goals set, based on revenue and the number of new label accounts landed, in excess of $20K, in a predetermined period of time (generally a budget year). Business development managers will support the  division’s new business development initiatives by proactively engaging in selling activities within the Regional Offices and RRD Divisions through training, sales support and solving customer problems. This role is a shared resource and will not handle customers directly nor compete with Sales for revenue credit nor commission dollars.  


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify new label customers through cross sell and new business initiatives
  • Solve customer problems with value added solutions and alternatives that position RRD as a valued supplier to internal and external customers
  • Collaborate and utilize the sales CRM tool to grow label business by adding new business development opportunities, as well as identifying current clients who have potential label solutions needs
  • Utilize the target prospect list to identify new business development opportunities and target prospects within area of responsibility to grow label business and cross sell into new and current customers
  • Make sales calls with sales professionals on key prospects and existing customers to grow label revenue
  • Be a liason between sales, manufacturing, product tech./development and suppliers to successfully and efficiently navigate label opportunities thorugh the selling process leading to successful closure and implementation
  • Conduct office meetings and training sessions in field locations to keep the sales force educated on all of RRD's label capabilities
  • Assess opportunities and customer relationships and reporting back to the Sr Management and Platform Leaders
  • Keep up-to-date on new products, technical advisement and resource allocation needed to win business in the marketplace
  • Recommend solutions that save time, money, and relationships with customers, sales reps, and suppliers
  • Support sales reps with pre-call preparation and assisting with the development of presentations and  proposals that help sales deliver effctive value added solutions to the customer
  • Weekly and monthly reporting as required for management

Required Skills
  • 5-7 years consultative, B2B sales experience in a print or related industry
  • Label industry or packaging knowledge and experience a plus
  • Ability to recommend construction changes and process improvements to bring value to our products and customer relatinships
  • Understanding of specification of materials for company on behalf of customers
  • Able to converse fluently at all contact levels within an organization (from Junior to C-level)
  • Ability to apply market knowledge relative to competition, market share, opportunities, etc. is essential
  • Demonstrate experience in analyzing trends, pricing and competitive programs
  • Effective communicator on email, phone and face-to-face
  • Bachelors degree in Business related concentration
  • Microsoft Office and Google applications proficiency required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Travel: 60% On-site at customer/30% Office/10% Manufacturing or plant location
  • Location: Must be located in the Northeastern United States, preferably within 5 hours by car or reasonable airfare
