Maxim's Electromagnetics Group is seeking a summer intern to perform tasks such as measuring and modeling Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) on evaluation kits (EV-Kits), 3D Electromagnetic simulation, and modeling of devices using circuit simulators. There is also opportunity to work in the Measurement Lab where AC (up to 50 GHz) and DC data is measured for devices on-wafer for the purpose of device characterization and process analysis.

Possible task are:
  • Assist experienced engineers in modeling of electronic devices using 3D Electromagnetic simulation software such as ANSYS HFSS and Q3D.
  • Use circuit simulation software such as Cadence and Agilent ADS to analyze circuit performance.
  • Perform measurements using computer-controlled test equipment.
  • Make hands on measurements using wafer probes.
  • Layout, assemble and test printed circuit boards.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Enrolled full time in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science working towards a BS degree or higher.
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Programming background in popular languages.
  • Strong fundamental electronics and analytical skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experienced in Electromagnetic Interference measurements or modeling.
  • Experienced in microwave theory such as S-parameters and transmission line theory.
  • Experience with measurement test equipment (network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope preferred),
  • Experience with 3D Electromagnetic software.
  • Computer control of measurement instruments.
  • Working knowledge of C / C++ is useful for some tasks.
  • Able to use LabView software to control test equipment.
  • Layout, assemble and testing of printed circuit boards.
