The R&D Program Portfolio Manager is a key leadership position in delivering a successful product portfolio to the Semiconductor and other markets. The PPM is responsible for delivering the program portfolio by managing the program portfolio group while interacting with a wide range of organizations across geographically dispersed locations including Europe and US based Engineering teams.

Specific Deliverables associated with this position include:

  • Proposing new programs or changes to the portfolio based on input from business units and other inputs
  • Overseeing program execution by program managers reporting to the Portfolio Manager
  • Managing changes to the scope, schedule and resources of the programs impacting the overall portfolio
  • Aligning programs and technology development
  • Managing the Program Portfolio Group employees, including selecting, developing, and motivating the employees to ensure the efficient Project and Program Management.
  • Participating in the Phase-Gate review process, resolving conflicts, and providing final recommendations
  • Defining and improving processes related to project, program, and portfolio execution

The Requirements

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:

  • Typically a university degree is required and a PhD/MBA or other advanced degree is preferred, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrate the required skills.
  • 10-15 years of experience in Research & Development, 6+ years people management experience.
  • Demonstrated project portfolio management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex engineering programs/projects through a defined and rigorous process.
  • Ability to manage staff, to assign specific duties, and to create a constructive and cooperative working relationship.
  • Proven ability to build consensus and get buy-in and participation from key stakeholders.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills across all levels
