Blog Post: Get Out and Volunteer!

Unfortunately some of you are without a job right now.  You’re obviously on Jobing.com which is great! I’m sure you’re looking at other employment websites, you’re scouring print publications, and you’re networking like crazy.  That’s great, awesome, keep it up! 

How many times though do you look at the clock to see 10:00 and think to yourself, “What else could I possibly do right now that will find me a job?”  The reality is that you can only do so much before the law of diminishing returns kicks in. 

Get out and volunteer!

As bad as things seem for you right now there are homeless people in shelters, sick people in hospitals and animals who need a home.  Lending a helping hand through volunteer organizations can do many things for you.  Your attitude will get better because you feel good about helping out.  You’ll be refreshed for that next round of cover letters and online resume submissions.  You can get your mind off the job search for a while.  You’ll be networking with others who like to help people.  Who knows, maybe you’ll meet someone who points you to your next job.
